I just finished reading a book titled Miracles by C.S Lewis and I feel lead to share with you what I have learned through this reading. What spoke to me the most out of the entirety of this book is how C.S Lewis portrayed God and then went on to how many things of this world effect our view of Him, and as a result, effect our belief in miracles. So I have a question that many times we tend to ignore, or believe to be irrelevant.

How do you view God? If someone asked you to explain your perception of God, where would you begin? What would you say? Explaining God, or attempting to wrap your mind around Him is not an easy task, but it does not mean we throw it to the wayside and never talk about this topic. Because if you do not let God, and His Word shape who HE is, then the world will do it for you. I know this because it happened to me. As a young kid I allowed the world to tell me what God was like and the result, not good.

My favorite quote from Miracles is this, "He is unspeakable not by indefinite but by being too definite for the unavoidable vagueness of language." The reason it becomes hard to explain God is not because He is an infinite, endless being with no bounds or no specific character, but because He is The Ultimate Being with a definite character, and the fountain of all Fact-hood. Now I am not saying God is not "infinite" because He is, it is just when we use this word-at least for me anyways-an endless void is typically associated with it; but like I said our God is The Definite Being. Our God does not love, for He is love; our God does not show mercy, for He is mercy. Not only is God the Creator, but He is the Originator. He is so brim full of existence, and of all these qualities, that they pour out on us, and over all creation in a way we cannot describe.

"I AM." God spoke these words to Moses from the burning bush, and there are no 2 better words to describe Him. This is the most declarative, and definite statement that God could have made about Himself to Moses. This declares Him as Alpha and Omega, His Supremacy, His determinate Character, and just the fact that He is who He is! Ponder these two words for a minute and you will see all that comes from making a statement such as this one. It declares so much, without leaving anything out. God is the Creator, Originator, King, Lord, Father, Husband, and Savior. He is also your Creator, your Originator, your King, your Lord, your Father, your Husband, and your Savior all at once. Lets see God for who He truly is.
